Au naturel for my kitties

I love, really love my cats. I talk to them and let them sleep beside me but one thing I’ll never do is to dress them up like dolls or babies. They’re cats, not dolls, not humans.

Recently I’ve seen dogs dressed up in costume. There are now pet shops that carry these items. What’s next, designer clothes?

No thanks. I prefer my pets to romp unencumbered.

Watch my tail!

Mati

This one’s a poor kitty. Mati is the cuddliest and sweetest among our felines. He loves to sit or sleep on laps and rubs against any available human. He also has a very long tail that swishes as he walks. The tail is also wrapped around the current human object of his affection.

However, there’s a drawback to having a long tail. It always gets stepped on. No matter how careful I am, Mati’s tail always finds its way into where I’m going. For two days in a row, he’s had to run away thinking something’s about to get him. Fortunately though, it has never affected his happy disposition.

Now I’m thinking, if those who are uncomfortable about their looks sometimes opt for a nose job rhinoplasty in New York City, could my little kitty be thinking of a tail-o-plasty? Hehehe!

My pets’ pets

This is a cat blog and mainly stars my feline darlings. However, I should feature the cats’ pets now and then. Do you know who these are?

They’re dogs! The tamer canine pal is Mascarado. He’s my auntie’s dog and lives next door. At 13, he is an old dog and my cats love to pester him. He used to bark at the cats but he is now used to their antics that he barks at around 4 p.m. if he still doesn’t see the rambunctious felines across the fence.

The other pet is TJ and she’s much younger. TJ is also extremely strong and very playful that we don’t leave the cats with her unsupervised. TJ cutie is around five years old but still seems like a hyperactive puppy. I wonder if she’s not too old for obedience training for dogs. Hmmm…

Kitty tattoo, anyone?

I’ve been looking for cat charms and strayed on a site for tattoos. Here’s something interesting:

Maori tribes in New Zealand believed that a tattoo of a certain animal would allow some of that animal’s qualities seep into the wearer. That belief, if not articulated, is still certainly felt by people whether they have dolphin tattoos, tiger tattoos, or those ever-popular wolf tattoos. When someone creates a scorpion tattoo they are certainly identifying themselves with some aspect of the scorpion.

What would I think of a person with a cat tattoo? Hmmm… cuddly? Cute? Hissy? Hehehe!

Come to think of it, I’ve never seen anyone with a cat tattoo before.

Baldy kitty

fluffy_kittycat.jpg

My cats are funny. They definitely are short-haired but some have thicker fur than others. The thick-haired little guy has it bad in the summer. I notice how Kittycat stays in the coolest part of the house, lies on metal (he even lay on top of a cleaver once) and grooms his rump non-stop. It’s his body part with the thickest and longest hair.

We’ve had a terrible hot spell recently and during that week, I notice Kittycat with a bald spot near his tail. Yikes! It will still be hot for more than a month, I think. I wonder how Kittycat will cope. Since he’s was a stray, he never got used to taking a bath. I hope he doesn’t turn bald. There is still no hair transplant for cats that I know of.
