The little fat lazy kitten

Tiger-baby after lunch.

One of our current favourites – Tiger. Here he is sleeping beside the well, after eating his heart out at lunch. We noticed how this kitten, despite having been born in the house, seems forever eating. No wonder he waddles when he walks.

My mother contemplated putting him on a diet but he got sick more than a week ago. He kept on eating but lost some weight. He’s much better now and I hope he keeps the weight off.

Au naturel for my kitties

I love, really love my cats. I talk to them and let them sleep beside me but one thing I’ll never do is to dress them up like dolls or babies. They’re cats, not dolls, not humans.

Recently I’ve seen dogs dressed up in costume. There are now pet shops that carry these items. What’s next, designer clothes?

No thanks. I prefer my pets to romp unencumbered.

Mati and Tinee in the compost pit

Mati tells Tinee: “Sister, you’re filthy! Let me clean you up. Oh, we’re in the compost heap? Hehehe!”

Commercial cat food is out of the question. Aside from being too expensive (for Philippine circumstances), looking at the labels makes me think it’s not nutritious enough.

Here’s an excerpt from a paper written by a veterinarian:

Conventional-minded veterinarians often say that commercial diets are superior to home-prepared diets, because the commercial diets are balanced, while home cooking creates nutritional deficiencies and diseases. The reality is just the opposite, as we will see.
